The Ferno 50E Multi Height Stretcher has been the main stretcher in use throughout Victoria for the last 3 years.  The stretcher has a wide range of functions including multiple sitting positions, shock stand,  ability to convert into a wheelchair with it's detachable top, and is able to lowered to various heights.

The Philips MRX Cardiac Monitor & Defibrillator is Victoria's standard device in use throughout Victoria.  Introduced in 2007 to replace the Zoll 1600.

The Zoll M Series Cardiac Monitor & Defibrillator has been obtained by the Colac station to provide an improved level of care. The M Series provides:

  • 12 Lead ECG

  • Biphasic defibrillation

  • SPO2

  • End Tidal CO2

  • Automated BP

The Neann OBT is RAV's new Oxygen Resuscitator introduced in 2002 to provide oxygen therapy and to ventilate the non breathing patient.  This compact kit carries:

  • Oxygen cylinder & regulator,

  • Oxygen therapy face mask

  • Closed circuit resuscitation system.

The Neann RAK was introduced in 2002 as RAVs new Advanced Life Support Kit to assist with the state wide introduction of the new advanced ambulance skills. The kit carries a wide range of equipment including:

  • Oropharyngeal Airways
  • Nasopharyngeal Airways
  • Airway Obstruction Equipment
  • Hand Operated Suction Unit & associated Equipment
  • BVM Resuscitator
  • Trauma Supplies
  • Oxygen Therapy Masks
  • Asthma Therapy Masks
  • Laryngeal Airway Masks
  • Hartmanns Fluid & Giving Set
  • IV Access & Drug Kit
  • Intubation equipment

The Neann AEK is the standard kit used by RAV's  Mobile Intensive Care Officers, being introduced in the late 1990's. The kit carries a range of equipment including:

  • Intubation Kit
  • IV Access & Advanced Drug Kit with 27 emergency drugs
  • Intravenous Fluids & Giving Sets
  • Pulse Oximeter / ETCO2 Monitor
  • Intra-osseous (bone) Needles
  • Pneumocath - Chest Decompression Needles

The Neann OBR is a back up portable oxygen unit allowing Officers to administer oxygen or to resuscitate multiple patients at a scene.  Equipment stored in the kit includes:

  • Oxygen Cylinder & Regulator
  • Oxygen Therapy Masks
  • Asthma Therapy Masks
  • Oropharyngeal Airways
  • BP Cuff

Stifneck Cervical Collars are the standard spinal collar in use across the state of Victoria and were introduced in the early 1990's replacing the CIG collar. Two complete sets are carried on each Ambulance and help prevent neck movement until the patient can be fully immobilised to a Long Spine Board, Scoop Stretcher or Vacuum Mattress.

The Neann Immobilisation & Extraction Jacket (NIEJ) is being introduced as a replacement  extrication jacket to replace the aging KED introduced in the early 1990's.  The NIEJ is the most up to date jacket designed for assisting in the removal of patients from vehicles and confined spaces, as well as providing excellent immobilisation to the upper spine.  It has the added advantage of also pelvic / NOF splinting.

The DHS Scoop Stretcher was introduced in the late 1990's to replace the aging Jordon Lifting Frame.  Providing excellent spine immobilisation, pelvis and leg splinting abilities, the Scoop is capable of lifting a patient with almost no movement.

The Neann Long Spine Board is Victoria's new spine board being introduced across the state to replace the older DHS Long Spine Board introduced in the early 1990's.  The board has multiple uses including sliding, lifting, pelvic & leg splinting, and of course full spine immobilisation.

The Neann Board Mattress provides significantly improved comfort and a reduction in pressure areas when patient require transportation on the Long Spine Board.

An Neann VIM Vacuum Mattress is Victoria's officially approved Vacuum Mattress for the transportation of trauma patients over long distances.  The splint is made up of a tuff tarp type outer skin filled with tiny balls about 1 mm in diameter.    The mattress is placed under the patient and then air is sucked out of the splint to form a rock hard device that prevents body movement.  The mattress is used for patients being transferred with spine, pelvic and leg injuries.

SAM Splints are used for immobilising fractures of arms and legs.  The splint is made of a formable material which is placed under the leg and then secured in place with a bandage.

NEANN Vacuum Splints are currently in use at Colac and offer an improved splint for immobilising fractures of arms and legs.  The splint is made up of a tuff tarp type outer skin filled with tiny balls about  1 mm in diameter.   The splint is applied to the arm or leg and then air is sucked out of the splint to form a rock hard device that prevents movement.  Unlike the SAM splints, the Vacuum Splint is easier to apply and provides vastly improved immobilisation

The Donway Traction Splint is the state's approved traction splint for upper leg fractures and has been in service since the late 1980's replacing the old Thomas Traction splint.  The splint is attached to the foot and hip ends, then pressure is applied by a hand pump which stretches the leg back to it's normal shape, resulting in reduced blood loss and decreased pain (due to a reduction in movement).

Two small first aid kits are carried on each vehicle and carry basic supplies including wound dressings, roller bandages, triangular bandages, burns dressing, eye wash & eye pads, scissors, bandaids, tape, emergency blankets, oropharyngeal airways, etc.

The SAM Pelvic Splint provides proper splinting for a fractured pelvis, having the potential to reduce significant blood loss that can occur with such injuries.

The NEANN EBP provides a full backpack harness system with padded shoulder straps, chest strap, aluminum frame to provide proper back support, lumber padding and a padded waist strap for excellent comfort when carrying over long distances.  The backpacks store standard equipment carried on the Ambulance, as well as  gear for bush walking including raincoats, drink bottles, radios and food.

The Veinlite provides an improved visualisation of veins in patients where veins are difficult to see especially in patient in shock and in children.  The Veinlite works by the passing light through body parts and organs, and are safe to use on any part of the body. No more probing the patient with multiple blind and painful IV stabs to find those veins that are invisible or difficult to see to the naked eye.  The Veinlite illuminates all veins rapidly, allowing size, depth (of up to 6 mm) and track of veins to also be determined.  If the Veinlite doesn't show up the vein,  then,  it simply is not there.
