At present RAV has approximately 90 Officers at the 'Qualified Ambulance Paramedic' (QAP) level across the state of Victoria, although this level is slowly being phased out with the introduction of the ALS program. Most of these Officers have undertaken the 3 year 'Associate Diploma Of Health Science (Ambulance Officer) course initially established in 1978, that covered a range of emergency medical topics including cardiology, respiratory, trauma & medical emergencies. Qualified Ambulance Paramedics are able to perform the following advanced skills:
