2011 ALS & MICA DRUG STUDY CARDS FOR
THE SMART PHONES (iPhone
or Android)
Updated October 2011 For those with a Smart Phone, study cards have been developed for the new September 2011 AV CPG drugs to avoid the need to carry the bulky cards around and to allow the drugs to be studied anywhere. To use the Drug Study Cards, it is necessary to download Flashcards Deluxe program from the iTunes store for $3.99. The cards are then downloaded for free from the Flashcards Deluxe Shared Files website. Simply type in 'AV Drugs' in the Flashcards Deluxe search engine and download the sets you want to place on your phone. Cards are divided into the following Card sets:

PAEDIATRIC DRUG CALCULATION SLIDE CARD Updated September 2011 The Paediatric Drug Calculation Slide Card is designed as a learning tool to assist in calculating the number of mls in a syringe to give of drugs used in the new September 2011 Victorian Ambulance Service Clinical Practice Guideline updates. It has been specially designed for use by both ALS (green writing) and MICA Paramedics (blue writing). MICA CPG STUDY CARDS - Version 3.1
(18 February 2010)
The MICA CPG Study Cards provided in this booklet are designed as a learning tool to assist in highlighting the major points of each MICA guidelines as found in the May 2009 Victorian Ambulance Service Clinical Practice Guidelines. There are approximately 300 study cards in this booklet. This booklet has been updated to the new Version 3.1 on the 18 February 2010 and fixed some minor spelling mistakes and corrected drug dosages of Midazolam in a range of protocols.

BOARD COMFORT STUDIES The 2011 AV CPGs have made changes to the Spinal protocols requiring staff to pad the Board as per CWI 5.1.11, and the immobilisation time has increased from 30 minutes to 60 minutes before considering removal of the Board. Click here for a summary of the studies that led to the change in the guideline. Please note that the word 'consideration' is NOT a requirement to remove the Board, but a suggestion only for staff to review patient comfort. If remaining on the Board is causing patient discomfort and deterioration in care, only then after 60 minutes should consideration for removing the Board be considered. |

VACIS - PATIENT CASE
INFORMATION VASIC COLLECTION SHEET With the restriction of using the VACIS in the Ambulance, the Patient Care Information VACIS Collection Sheet has been trialled and developed to by Paramedics at Colac over the last few years to allow staff to collect and jot down information during the care of the patient, which can then be transferred to the VACIS on arrival at hospital.
